Last week, the city charged three people, including two ministers and a 90-year-old homeless advocate, with a 60-day jail term for their supposed crime.
Of most interest is 90-year-old Abbott. Abbott is a homeless help advocate who prepares hundreds of meals each week for the homeless in the kitchen of the Sanctuary Church.
>“I fully believe that I am my brother’s keeper. Love they neighbor as thy self,” “We serve two entrées at every feeding,” Abbott said.
Doing this has landed him in trouble with the law. Possible jail time of 60 days and a 00 fine for feeding the homeless is what he faces for violating a new ordinance that outlaws groups from sharing food with the hungry in the city.
>“One of police officers came over and said ‘Drop that plate right now,’ as if I was carrying a weapon,” Abbott said.
Another prominent citizen who was charged with this crime, church pastor, Wayne Black.
>“We believe very strongly that Jesus taught us that we are to feed his sheep,” said Pastor Black.
The mayor of Ft Lauderdale Jack Seiler has no remorse and apparently no care for humans as he had just a few simple words concerning this situation:
>“We enforce the laws here in Ft. Lauderdale,” said Mayor Seiler.
Abbott has gone through this before. He has sued and won!
>“I’m going to have to go to court court again to sue the city of Fort Lauderdale, the beautiful city. These are the poorest of the poor. They have nothing. Don’t have a roof over their head, and who could turn them away?” Abbott asked.
The 90 year has no plans to stop! He will continue to feed the homeless no matter the cost.[SOURCE](http://khon2.com/2014/11/03/90-year-old-florida-man-arrested-for-feeding-the-homeless/)
