Fifty students from Vista PEAK P-20 walked out of school Wednesday morning.

The Aurora Police Department tweeted that students were walking to the Aurora Municipal Center to protest.

This is the sixth straight school day of student protests in the Denver metro area.

The student protests started last Wednesday in Denver when hundreds of East High School students walked out of class, marched to the state Capitol and 16th Street Mall before marching back to school. On their way back to class, a driver hit several police officers, leaving one in critical condition.

The walkouts started in response to the grand jury’s decision in Ferguson, Missouri, not to indict the white officer who shot and killed unarmed, black teenager Michael Brown. The protests are also in response to the grand jury’s decision in New York not to indict the police officer who put Eric Garner in a chokehold, leading to his death.
