OpISIS launched earlier this year by Anonymous, disrupts websites, email accounts and VPN connections related to ISIS. Now Anons have teamed up with GhostSec and Ctrlsec (other hacker groups) to release 9,200 Twitter account names as a part of OpISIS.
An Anon involved in the operation told IBTimes:
“This is historic amongst the digital world as it’s the first time these groups have come together for something this large, Usually they are very closed off and not willing to work outside of their circles but this has become so large of a problem they’re willing to form an alliance for what is seen as a greater good. The outcome of hundreds of hackers across all three major groups is the largest compiled and verified list ever to be released to the public.”
The @xrsone, the Twitter account that has released the account names is encouraging others to share these accounts and apply pressure on Twitter to remove or suspend them.
##Cyber-hackers vs Terrorists?
*ISIS supporters are now waging online jihad on Anonymous…*
>ISIS supporters are circulating a hit list of 182 “most prominent enemy” Twitter handles that have been monitoring and reporting on accounts associated with the Jihadist network. Accounts related to the hacking group Anonymous dominate the list.
ISIS uses swarm accounts to stay alive on twitter despite Twitter’s suspensions. On March 2, ISIS threatened Twitter founder and employees for blocking ISIS supporter accounts.
Anarticle in Foreignpolicy suggests, “The U.S. Government Should Pay Anonymous in Bitcoin to Fight ISIS” which clearly explains itself:
“How is it that the US government, capable of coordinating a complex air campaign from nearly 6,000 miles away, remains virtually powerless against the Islamic State’s online messaging and distribution network?
“If the United States is struggling to counter the Islamic State’s dispersed, rapidly regenerative online presence, why not turn to groups native to this digital habitat? Why not embrace the efforts of third-party hackers like Anonymous to dismantle the Islamic State – and even give them the resources to do so?”[Source](http://n4gm.com/2015/03/16/anonymous-released-9200-isis-supporter-twitter-account-names-to-apply-pressure-on-twitter-for-suspending-them/) and [Reddit commentary](http://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/2z7x46/anonymous_released_9200_isis_supporter_twitter/)
